Movie soundtracks serve many purposes.  They help set the tone of a film (I mean when The Graduate chose to have only Simon and Garfunkel songs in that classic film … it truly added to the whole movie experience.)   Sometimes you love a movie soundtrack because you know all the songs being played and it really makes the movie extra fun as you sing along.  Like the Big Chill had some great Motown tracks.    Other soundtracks introduce you to bands and songs that you hadn’t heard before … and that’s super fun too.

Obviously as a child of the eighties I love all the John Hughes soundtracks (and choosing just one was hard.)   But I have to also give a big shout out to any movie John Cusack is involved with and also Cameron Crowe, but the movie I went with tonight wasn’t necessarily my favorite John Hughes movie … but I honestly think it was the most epic soundtrack.   It had fantastic tracks by fantastic artists and they fit the film so perfectly … I am talking about Pretty in Pink.   I mean look below…

 1. If You Leave – OMD
  2. Left of Center – Suzanne Vega w/ Joe Jackson
  3. Get To Know Ya – Jesse Johnson
  4. Do Wot You Do – INXS
  5. Pretty In Pink – The Psychedelic Furs
  6. Shell-Shock – New Order
  7. Round, Round – Belouis Some
  8. Wouldn’t It Be Good – Danny Hutton Hitters
  9. Bring On The Dancing Horses – Echo & The Bunnymen
  10. Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want – The Smiths
Here is one of the classics (although we all know Andie should have ended up with Duckie … but don’t get me started on that!)
