Happy New Year! Leslie Harris here, and I’ve never been big on New Year’s resolutions. For me, it is always been an opportunity to fail, so why bother? Well, maybe we can take on something smaller than overhauling our entire lives.

I read an article that challenged us to stop spending for the month of January. We’ve been spending so much money the last month or so on other people, and I’ve also been spending more money on myself. While I’m shopping for gifts for others I think, oh I’ll just get an extra one for me too! I deserve it! So it’s time to scale back. Time to get out of the HABIT of spending. Time to get out of the habit of acquiring stuff that I don’t need. So I’m going to do it. Just for the month of January. I can handle that, right?I’m gonna try to get my family to do it too, so we can support each other.

By the way, I will spend money on groceries, and of course emergencies. But that cat dress that I really want is going to have to wait. If I still want it in February, it will still be there.

How about you? Got any New Year’s resolutions? What are they, and how will you make sure you keep them? Let us know in the comments.
