Olympic Medalist from Geneva Among a Group Biking 800 Miles for Cal’s Angels

Kevin McDowell is a Geneva High School graduates from the class 2011. He’s also an Olympic silver medalist! He’s also a cancer survivor.

The 30-year-old GHS alum and newly-minted Viking Athletics Hall of Famer is one of many putting their legs to the test in a charity bike ride dubbed the War on Wheels! They started on Sunday on the Mackinac Bridge in Mackinaw City, Michigan, and are riding for about 800 miles to end up in downtown St. Charles all to benefit Cal’s Angels, a St. Charles based charity aimed at funding research into childhood cancer and granting wishes to kid who are battling.

You should definitely read more about McDowell and his journey in this great piece from Eric Schelkopf in the Patch.

As for the bike ride, they will ride every day and plan to roll into St. Charles this coming weekend, hopefully with $1,000,000 in donations to fund Cal’s Angels and the families they support.

Follow along on the Cal’s Angels social media accounts. Good luck to all the riders!
