Plainfield Brewery Releases “A Beer for Kim” To Help Local Woman Who Was Carjacked, Shot in Aurora

UPDATE (2/12/21; 3:58 p.m.) – The community came out in full force. This beer is sold out! Please consider donating using the link at the bottom of the page.

Reason #1,293 why I love the local beer community: their zealous support their communities.

This weekend is the release of Werk Force Brewing Company‘s A Beer for Kim.

Kim is a friend of the brewery was the the victim of a violent attack outside of a restaurant in broad daylight.

From Werk Force’s Facebook page:

On Jan. 16th a good friend ours, Kim, was carjacked in Aurora while she sat and ate lunch in her car at a Wendy’s parking lot. The attackers dragged her out of her car and shot her in the back. They were on a carjacking spree and she was targeted completely at random.
Kim luckily survived but the bullet hit her spine and she has a long road of recovery ahead of her.
Without hesitation we decided to brew a batch of beer for her and we will be donating the profit to her GoFundMe.
Kim is a big fan of our beer and we can’t wait to have her back to the taproom once Kim is healthy! Kim is one of the strongest women we know so if anyone can recover from this, it is her.
A Beer For Kim is a West Coast Style IPA loaded with Citra, Nelson Sauvin and a really cool experimental hop EXP 10416.
I’ll be swinging by later today for my four-pack, assuming there is any left!

If you can’t make it to Werk Force for the beer, but would like to help Kim, you can donate directly here.
