Please Help, There’s a Blood Shortage Emergency
Look, we’re all busy. I get it. I got two kids with multiple activities each. Finding time to do ANYTHING is rough. But desperate times call for desperate measures, folks.
You may not know, but the blood supply fluctuates every day. It’s been low for sometime, but today is at critical levels.
Versiti Blood Center of Illinois announced today that they have LESS THAN A DAY’s worth of blood supply. They usually start to sound the alarm at 3 day’s worth of supply, but we’re WELL below that right now.
Versiti supplies over 80 hospitals in Illinois, and a day’s supply is NOT VERY MUCH!
God forbid a tornado hits and many people are injured. They’d all need blood.
There are currently hundreds of cancer patients and other ill people who require blood every day. Their lifeline is getting short.
I get it…you hear all the time how low blood supply is. And the scary fact is that it’s true every time! They would not ask if they did not need, but today it’s as low as it’s been in over a year.
Around 70% of you CAN donate blood, but only 3% do. THREE PERCENT.
If you have donated blood before, you know how easy it is. Please do it again…soon. (links below to let you know where to go)
If you have never done it, I strongly encourage you to go in and donate. First time donors are needed more now than ever to increase the pool of people ready and willing to donate. Even more important is getting those with diverse backgrounds to donate. There are special diseases that require special types of blood that only those with diverse backgrounds can provide.
Blood need is great, but supply is low! We’re talking cancer patience, trauma victims, organ transplant recipients. They all need blood to survive…and there is no alternate for it than what is donated. In other words, without YOU, these folks won’t get the life-giving supply of blood they need to survive.
Facts.
If you want to make an appointment, great! But hell, just walk in to one of the Versiti donation centers and they’ll find some time for you.
