We are on day 5 of my new puppy, Clark, living with me… and so far so good! We went from quite a few indoor accidents to maybe one per day now (although I hope I didn’t just jinx myself!). In the first description that I saw of him, they said he was a golden retriever/terrier mix. When I adopted him, his paperwork said he’s a lab mix… so I’m not really sure what he is. All I know is that he’s 3 months old, 100% fluffy and adorable! He loves snuggles and gets along very well with other dogs and kids of all ages. Oh… and he LOVES to eat and sleep!
I knew that now was the perfect time for me to adopt, because I will be mostly working from home for the next month+. Also, I’m getting my floors re-done this spring, so I am able to be extra patient with accidents on my gross carpeting… haha! Regardless, I still needed a lot of help bringing a puppy into my house… so I went to Pet Supplies Plus for help! And the fact that they offer FREE curbside pick up within 2 hours is so helpful right now for social distancing purposes!
I live near the Montgomery and Yorkville locations, but PSP has 13 franchise locations in Naperville, North Aurora, Plainfield, Bolingbrook, Streamwood, Orland Park, Villa Park, Lake in the Hills, Crystal Lake and more! Any location you go to will make sure you’re set up the right way to bring a puppy into your home. In fact, they have the New Pet Parent program that gives you savings on pretty much everything you need (from toys to beds to tags), a checklist of what you should have and do, tips on how to care for your new pet and LOTS of coupons!
The store manager walked me through the aisles to make sure I have what I need and made suggestions. I really liked that she wasn’t pushy about any specific item. She suggested one specific type of pet food, but I ended up going with another because of a recommendation from my vet and she understood (they are both really good foods, so I wasn’t really going to go wrong either way). She also showed me some of the most popular puppy toys and treats that they carry!
Clark seems to be adjusting pretty well and I’m so happy to now have some company while stuck in the house for the next [insert however the heck long we’re going to be stuck at home]. A big shout out to Pet Supplies Plus for making sure I have everything I need to help make Clark feel at home… and I love the FREE curbside pick up within 2 hours (which is great for social distancing AND because Clark is a bit too crazy to be taking him in a public place with so many smells right now, haha).
