R.E.M. “Honored” By Al Green Cover

Here’s something you didn’t know you needed in your life: Soul legend Al Green covering the R.E.M. classic “Everybody Hurts”.

The singer dropped his gospel-tinged cover on Tuesday.

Green says he “wanted to inject a little touch of hope and light into it”, adding “There’s always a presence of light that can break through those times of darkness.”

R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe praises Green’s cover, saying, “Speaking on behalf of the entire band — we could not be more honored, more flattered, more humbled… This is an epic moment for us.”
