Radiohead, The Cure, Others Sign Letter Protesting AI In Music
AI is here, no doubt about that. If I’m being honest, I use it from time to time, but I certainly understand and subscribe to the feelings of uneasiness, apprehension and straight up fear that AI could be more bad than good, especially in the realm of creative works.
Recently, Radiohead, The Cure, and ABBA are among a group of creatives signing a letter protesting the use of AI in music and art. Interestingly, the ire isn’t’ focused on the end use, but instead, HOW the AI was created and trained.
The letter calls the “unlicensed use” of creative work to train AI models “a major, unjust threat to the livelihoods of the people behind those works”.
Other signees include actors Kevin Bacon and Julianne Moore and bestselling author James Patterson.
