St. Patrick’s Day Comes to the Western Suburbs, A Little Early

Hi this is Leslie Harris, and I’m so very happy that St Patrick’s Day parades are making their comeback this year after being gone the last 2 years. One of the best parades in the area is happening right here in the western suburbs. The 25th annual Elmhurst St. Patrick’s Day parade is this Saturday, March 5th, and it’s promises to be a good time for all. The parade kicks off at noon at Wilson Street and Spring Road, and heads North to the train tracks. You can see Irish dancers, the Shannon Rovers, Benny the Bull, Southpaw and Tommy Hawk, more than 80 floats, The Chicago Highlanders, Medinah Clowns, and marching bands including the York High School marching band, and my pals with the Elmhurst Armpit Orchestra! The EAO claims to have the largest drum in the world, with a picture of Bill Murray gracing the center of it.

Other Suburban St Patrick’s Day parades this Saturday include Lemont’s St Patrick Day parade and Fest, countryside St Patrick’s Day parade, and Forest parks St Patrick’s Day parade. The weather is going to be great so get outside and enjoy the western suburbs!
