Study: Americans Are Bad At Spotting ‘Fake News’ – But Think They’re Good At It

Think you know ‘fake news’ when you see it? Most Americans don’t, according to a new study.

Researchers found that 3 out of 4 Americans “overestimate” their ability to spot fake headlines – and are more likely to share stories that turn out to be false.

Even worse, we’re overconfident –  a whopping 90% of participants believed they had an “above average” ability to spot fake stories.
