Temporary Soccer Field Installed at Aurora’s Phillips Park for Kids to “Just Play!”

If your kids enjoy soccer, tell them to get a ball, a group of friends and go play!

The City of Aurora’s Youth Services announced they have erected a portable indoor-style soccer field at the main pavilion of Phillips Park intended for kids to come play pick-up games.

They put it up on Wednesday, and according to the video they posted on social media, it will be up for just a week! Go enjoy the beauty of the park while your kids play the beautiful game!

This appears to be the result of a grant application a few years back when the City of Aurora put in for a $30,000 grant from the Kane County Grand Victoria Riverboat Fund. Apparently that request was granted!

In the Chicago Tribute article from 2020, Simon Rodriguez, seen in the video above, said they’d like to move this soccer field to different locations throughout the city to give kids opportunities to play without paying fees that park district and privately-owned fields require.
