Thanks For Coming Out to River Night with the Kane County Cougars!
What a crowd!!!!!
We had a packed house at Northwestern Medicine Field last night. I’m sure the beautiful weather and dollar dogs/beer had something to do with it, but hey, we’ll take the credit!
I had a chance to talk to quite a few River listeners, which is really the joy of these types of nights. And since it was also the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the Cougars honored those who served with a military night celebration.
I also had a chance to throw out the first pitch. I had a fantastic idea on what to do (because who really enjoys watching a 30-something guy with a regular throw?), but in hindsight, it was the corniest thing I’ve ever done! At least there were actual veterans in the house to throw out more first pitches that actually meant something! Hats off to these guys!
Since it was military night, I wanted to honor those who served, specifically those that didn’t make it home. So, I threw a pitch that didn’t make it to home plate. You see what I did? A throw that didn’t make it home for those that didn’t make it home.
I know…I can literally feel your eyes roll as you read that. It felt like a good idea at the time…I hope it played well. Oh well! Hopefully it’s the thought that counts!
Thanks to everyone that came out! If you have a photo from the night, I’d love to see it. Share them in the comments below!
