The Air and Water Show is Here!
Hi, it’s Leslie Harris and this is one of my favorite weekends in Chicago. It’s the Air and Water show, and it’s the largest free show of its kind in the country, and it’s SO COOL!
I snapped that photo at a Chicago Air and Water Show a couple of years ago. Look at that precision! Isn’t that crazy?
Thousands of people will flock to Chicago’s lakefront from Fullerton to Oak Street, but North Avenue Beach is the focal point. You can get there as early as 6:00 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday, but you don’t need to.
There will be lots of refreshments from food vendors, as well as restroom facilities, a first aid tent and a lost child tent. The surrounding area will be extremely congested, so public transportation is highly recommended.
Featured acts this year include the US Air Force Thunderbirds, who are celebrating their 70th year. Also on hand will be the US Army Parachute Team Knights.
Civilian performers include Triple Time Team, the Chicago Fire Department Air/Sea Rescue and the Chicago Police department Helicopter.
The Chicago Air and Water Show happens Saturday and Sunday, August 19th and 20th from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and the weather looks to be great for it.
