THE DUMBEST LAW EVERRR???

Hi this is Leslie Harris and you may know that I am proud to call myself a Crazy Cat Lady. I’ve had cats my whole life, and I’m very involved in companion animal rescue, with my focus mostly on cats. But I think this story would upset me even if I was not a Crazy Cat Lady.

A 79 year old woman in Ohio has been sentenced to 10 days in jail for feeding cats.

For.Feeding.Cats.

The woman is lonely as her husband passed away, and some neighbors moved and left their cats behind, so she has been feeding them. It makes the cats happy, but more importantly, it makes the woman really happy. However, there’s some goofy law in Ohio that states that it is illegal to feed a cat or dog that is not your own.

I don’t get it. Are the lawmakers in Ohio so heartless that they would rather see these cats and dogs starve to death? Can you think of any good reason for this?

Now this is where social media is used for good instead of evil. There’s been such a backlash about this that the woman is getting a second hearing. Hopefully, they will leave this poor woman alone.
