So the main reason I went to see Heart in Detroit was because Heart is my college roommates favorite band.  She spent so many evening singing Heart songs into hairbrush that I know all of Heart’s music without owning a single record by the band.   I had never seen Heart in concert but this line up was super fun.  I  saw Elle King at River Edge Park last summer and loved her.  I had never seen Joan Jett so I was excited to finally see her and of course seeing Heart with my college buds was going to be quite the experience.

So let’s talk about Joan (bad picture below … we had lawn seats)   She was so much fun.  Up beat and brought the crowd together.  We were all dancing and singing along …. Hello, daddy. Hello, mom, I’m your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb!   She was so great.   She finished up with singing  Everyday People by Sly and the Family Stone which was healing after the weekend we had just had…And different strokes for different folks
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo, Oh sha sha we got to live together!

Elle King had a really short set (much shorter than I would have liked) but she was just as much fun as she was last summer.   (Seriously go see her if you can one day).

So then came the lovely ladies of Heart.  They were really fab but I realized why I have never been a HUGE Heart fan while watching the show.  I am not a fan of rock ballads even when they are sung by the amazing Anne Wilson.  I really like rhythm based songs, especially at live shows.  So to be honest, they weren’t my favorite but I could recognize that they were just as good as ever and the Heart fans were loving every minute.

To be honest I could have seen any band at Pine Knob on such a beautiful night with my awesome college friends.
