The Orchid Show – Worth the Drive

Hi this is Leslie Harris, and yesterday, my friend Deb and I made the long drive to Glencoe (near Highland Park) to the Chicago Botanic Gardens for their annual orchid show. It was spectacular!

The exhibit is quite large, with several different rooms with imaginative displays.

There are orchids hanging from the ceilings, growing from the sides of trees, and artfully displayed on an antique piano.

There’s a section where one feels like they’re walking through a jungle, surrounded by hundreds of orchids. There are cascading bunches of teeny tiny orchids, orchids with spindly petals, and giant orchids the size of your hand.

The orchids also come in almost every color you can imagine from the deepest purple, to the brightest Coral and yellow, and of course, orchid.

There are more varieties of orchids than you can possibly imagine. Deb and I enjoyed it so much that we walked through it a second time.

The Orchid show is running through March 27th at the Chicago Botanic Garden, at 1000 Lake Cook Road in Glencoe.
