The Umbrella Sky Project Is Beautiful and Coming to Elmhurst This Month!

Get your phones out! An international public art installation is coming to Elmhurst and it look really cool!

Elmhurst is the sixth US city to welcome the Umbrella Sky Project, with 170+ international installations that started in Portugal and expanded to France, Japan, Spain, Norway and more!

The motto is Coloring life, bringing color to gray spaces and making people smile!

The “Umbrella Sky Project” was born in Águeda in the year of 2012, and is composed by several colorful art installations spread all around the city, with the sky of umbrellas that seem to float in the air being the strong element of this project.

A simple idea that brings color and protection to public spaces while transporting us into a fantasy world!

This project has been on display through several countries and stands out for the involvement it can create with the public, causing a dynamic interaction with social networks.

Not only will the beautiful display of color be a joy to see, but it’s designed to bring in bloggers, photographers and the press, which in turn will impact the local economy.

There will actually be THREE of these installations in Elmhurst: Schiller Court at Schiller and York Streets Sponsored by Community Bank of Elmhurst, Cultural Campus at 110 South Cottage Hill Sponsored by Lakeside Bank, North York Stage at 254 North York Street Sponsored by Elmhurst Bank.

The City of Elmhust is hosting an Umbrella Sky Opening Day Party on Saturday, April 29th complete with music and beverages at the Schiller Park location from 4-7.
