This New Website Is Like “Amazon for Local Business” in the Fox Valley
I have to fill you in on this new website that a friend of mine turned me on to last week.
You should know this is not an advertisement…they are not clients of this radio station…I just think it’s a super cool idea!
It’s called Spots on the Fox – an online marketplace for shopping local.
According to their hype video, the idea for Spots on the Fox was born out of the pandemic. It’s for people who prefer to safely shop on line rather than go into stores. That’s great, but it usually benefits the big boys like Wal-Mart, Target and Amazon way more than it does local shops.
What if there was a website you can go where you can buy items from multiple stores with one transaction…and those stores were all local?!
That’s what Spots on the Fox is! It brings all the local stores that may or may not have a website and allows all of us to support their businesses from home.
Friggin’ genius.
So maybe you want to buy a candle from Scentcerely Yours (Geneva), a children’s book from Stacy M Design (Aurora), a beer glass from Pollyanna Brewing Company (St. Charles). You can do that all on one website in one transaction, and 100% of the money goes to those local vendors.
Spots on the Fox is focused on businesses up and down the Fox Valley, which is great, but the idea seems like it has legs to expand to pretty much anywhere!
They have already formed partnerships with several local chambers of commerce (Geneva, Plainfield, St. Charles, Elgin)
I hope more and more local businesses decide to hop on board. This makes shopping local easier for the consumer, and that seems like a no-brainer to me.
Congrats to Kiel and Ana for the great idea…now let’s see how far it can go!
