Back in 1953, Chevrolet introduced the Corvette. The new sports car featured a 150 horsepower, 6 cylinder engine and 2 speed automatic transmission. It could do zero to 60 mph in 11.5 seconds.  There have been many changes over the years, but the Corvette was always a front engine car. That is until now.

The eighth generation, 2020 Corvette is a mid engine machine. Because of the major changes in engineering,  industry analysts expected the price of the new ‘Vette to be substantially higher. However, you can get into the base model for just under $60,000. That’s not much more than the base 2019 model.

What do you get for your money?  A 495 horsepower V8, 8 speed automatic transmission (no manual is  available) and  zero to 60 acceleration in less than 3 seconds.

What you don’t get is a back seat and 40 miles per gallon. Of course, you knew that already.
