Tina! At Broadway in Chicago

Hi it’s Leslie Harris, and last night I attended a performance of Tina! at the Nederlander theater in Chicago. (I had forgotten just how exquisite this theatre is, but I digress…)

Tina! is the story of Tina Turner’s life, and we get to see the good, the bad, the ugly, and the triumph.

She grew up in an abusive household, and her mother abandoned her at a young age. She was raised by her maternal grandmother, who encouraged her to leave their small town to pursue a singing career.

Tina was discovered by Ike Turner. His abuse is well documented, and she left the marriage with very little to her name.

But she triumphed, gloriously in the 80’s with her spectacular comeback.

This musical is a rocking good time, and the show is followed by a mini concert. Be sure to stay for it.
