To My Dad

Folks, it’s been a rough week for me and my family. We had to bury my dad yesterday.

I got the call on Tuesday, June 1st sitting at this very computer at which I type. He was also a huge fan of the radio station, an avid listener, and my biggest fan which has been why it’s been so hard to get back on the air. Knowing that I’m talking and he’s not listening is hard.

He was the absolute best. A hard worker. Unselfish. Loved his family. I could write a novel, but that’s all you need to know right now.

We had the most beautiful send off yesterday. The line wrapped around the funeral home. We played all his favorite songs the entire time, Radar Love being at the top of the list. The funeral service was beautiful playing his favorite “church songs” as we called them. I am happy my brother and I had to opportunity to say a few words in his honor. Thank you to everyone that came out to pay their respects and those that wished they could. It was the celebration deserved.

I just want to use this space to honor him as my family tries to adjust to our “new normal” (I hate that phrase, but it applies here!).

I lost my dad a lot earlier than we thought we would, but I’m grateful for the time we had with him. There are a lot of people who can’t say the same, so for that, I’m content.

Thank you, Dad.
