Tornado confirmed on far north side of Naperville

The National Weather Service is confirming that multiple tornadoes hit central Illinois.  Three tornadoes touched down yesterday morning in Ford and Champaign counties.  They included the west edge of Champaign, five miles northwest of Urbana, and east of Paxton.  There is no word of any damage or injuries.

Closer to home…The National Weather Service is confirming that multiple tornadoes hit the Chicago area.  Two tornadoes touched down yesterday morning in Joliet and Naperville.  There have been reports of damage to trees, windows, fences and roofs but no major structural damage.  No injuries were reported as well.

A trained spotter reported the tornado near the Herrick Lake Forest Preserve. The weather service confirmed the short-lived tornado lasted about two minutes, with estimated peak winds of 80 miles per hour.
