Trucking Facility Proposed Near Suburban Military Cemetery Sparks Controversy

I saw this story yesterday on the news and thought it needed more exposure. It’s something happening here in our area! A new trucking facility is planned very near the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. It is the country’s second largest Veterans Cemetery and was dedicated in 1999. It’s south of Joliet in or near Elwood. At issue is the actual peace and respite for the fallen who are entombed there. The safety of their resting places is being challenged by a trucking company who boasts of producing 10,000 jobs and an annual influx of $2o million in local revenues. Graves have already been damaged and it seems to me that sometimes we need to put purpose over profits. Read these pieces on what’s going on and let us know how you feel!
