So here we are just 4 days from Valentine’s Day. Every ones favorite excess holiday. V for Victory or R for Revenge. Now I’m a very romantic guy and have certainly gone overboard more than a few times, but there’s many out there that are now disengaged, undone, just no longer relevant or for whom it’s just over in their previous romantic endeavors. Some just walk on by, some pine and feel the angst of rejection and some feel maybe taking some action is in order. Thus the V for Victory or R for Revenge.
So if you’re not feeling much love as Valentine’s day nears there are two zoos in Texas will let you honor an ex in a cruel but probably very satisfying way. The San Antonio Zoo and the El Paso Zoo are running campaigns through Valentine’s Day to dedicate a cockroach after an ex and have it fed to an animal. The El Paso event is free, but donations are suggested. San Antonio’s costs $5 per roach. The best part? You don’t have to live in either city. Both zoos are offering the chance for people to see all the munching action on their social media streams. “We had a tremendous response last year, and we are ready to do it all over again,”. This is the second year that zoo is hosting this event, and the San Antonio Zoo’s first. El Paso Zoo director Joe Montisano is getting into the fun by providing a little incentive. For every $1,000 raised in donations, he will also eat a cockroach. (So far, he has to eat four.) Meanwhile, the San Antonio Zoo has an upgrade for the most ratty of exes: For $20, they’ll feed a rat to a reptile. Submissions are open for San Antonio’s cockroach naming through Thursday. El Paso’s runs through Saturday. If you’re not feeling particularly grouchy about Valentine’s Day (or roaches), the Bronx Zoo has a completely different offer. For $15, you can name a cockroach in your partner’s honor and a love that’ll last as long as the roaches.
