VIDEO: Sir Paul Himself Wants You To Watch This Canadian’s Girl’s Version of Blackbird

The twist….it’s sung entirely in the Indigenous language of Mi’kmaq.

Emma Stevens put her version of The Beatles White Album classic on the internet in back April.

A 10th grader at Allison Bernard Memorial High School in Eskasoni, Stevens hopes the performance will bring awareness to the language, which is spoken by less than 10,000 people.

So moved by the clip, McCartney recently told his concert audience, “There’s an incredible version a Canadian girl’s done, you can see it on YouTube, it’s in her native language… it’s really cool check it out.”
