Halloween 2020 Safety Guidelines
Halloween is Saturday, October 31. This year, Halloween will look different due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, pending guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Village of Plainfield would like to share the following safety guidelines.
-
Trick-or-Treating hours are 4-8 p.m.
-
If you choose to hand out candy, consider options for contact-free candy distribution and please turn on your porch lights.
-
If you do not wish to participate, please make sure your porch lights are turned off. The Village has also created a flyer that you can print and post in your window or door so that others know you are not participating. (here)
-
Refrain from participating in trick-or-treating if you are feeling unwell, if someone in your house is unwell, if you are awaiting COVID-19 test results, if you have recently returned from travel toa hotspot state, or if you know that you have been exposed to COVID-19.
-
If you decide to take your child/children trick-or-treating, wear a face covering and incorporate face coverings or masks into costumes to help prevent the spread of germs.
-
Trick-or-treat as a household and maintain social distancing from other groups.
-
Make sure that trick-or-treaters have a clear field of vision and wear light colors or put reflective tape on their costumes.
-
Be careful when crossing streets and check both directions for cars.
-
Do not enter any homes.
-
Check all treats in a well-lit area after returning home and only eat unopened candy that is in the original packaging.
