Some people decorate their houses for Halloween. And some make their backyard an EXPERIENCE!

Brian and Jessica Cotes of Plainfield have been inviting neighborhood families to walk through their haunted backyard since 2017. Each year it gets more elaborate. You can tell these two LOVE Halloween…they were even married on Halloween!

My family has visited the Cotes’ yard the last two years, and we love it! It’s become a tradition for us. It’s not too scary, but my three-year-old needed to be held the first time through before he begged to go back in and see the dragon!

They even organize a scavenger hunt through their yard for an extra level of fun.

This year, planning and construction started in JULY! It doesnt’ cost you anything, but I guarantee you’ll love it, and you’ll go back each year! This isn’t a professional operation by any means, it’s two people who enjoy their passion and share it with the community, and I absolutely love it!

I would have posted more photos, but it’s dark and I didn’t get any worth sharing! Besides, it is better to go and see for yourself!

Check out the Cotes’ Haunted Yard at 6907 Townsend Blvd in Plainfield. They open every Friday and Saturday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. through Halloween (weather permitting…check their Facebook page for up-to-date info).
