Mondays are tough enough but they are extra tough when the weather has been ridiculous and you may or may not have had a little bit too much fun at River Prom.   Although I don’t currently work a 9-5 job, I have worked plenty of those in the past.  I can remember Sunday feeling the dread of the impending working week.   Lying in bed trying to fall asleep when your body clock has been disrupted by weekend shenanigans.   You count down how many hours of sleep you will get before your alarm goes off and then get completely stressed by how little sleep you are going to get which makes you unable to sleep (this is true for me whenever I fill in on the morning show … I’m a mess!)   Then the moment happens and your alarm goes off … pure misery … you drag your rear out of bed, get a hot beverage of your choice and try to face the world with some positivity.   I think Elvis Costello summed it up perfectly with this short little tune with the following lyrics …

Welcome to the working week
Oh, I know it don’t thrill you, I hope it don’t kill you
Welcome to the working week
You gotta do it till you’re through it, so you better get to it

Nothing can help motivate you more than a bit of music therapy.  The song you jam to in your car on the way to work can really help get your day going.   We have already had a Music Challenge question about songs that motivate you … so today we are looking at songs that remind you of your job.  Now obviously there are a lot of songs about being a DJ  (and just to clarify I am not a REAL DJ … REAL DJ’s have two turntables and a microphone … they mix tracks in nightclubs and are SO much cooler and more talented than radio DJ’s!!)     I of course went with something eighties … just for a giggle … here is the Buggles with Video Killed the Radio Star … (and welcome to the working week!)
