We’re Off To See The Wizard!

I went to go see The Wizard of Oz at Paramount Theatre in Aurora over the weekend and can say with 100% certainty that this is a MUST see show for the family this holiday season!

Sometimes you don’t know what you’re going to get when you see a movie or read a book before seeing a show performed live, but this production did a great job of keeping true to the movie story line while adding in some amazing surprises.

I saw plenty of kids enjoying the fun musical numbers and characters and even more adults enjoying this nostalgic blast from the past!

No matter how old you are, you can’t deny the fantastic design and lighting work that went into this production. Some of the scenes were unbelievable to see come together on stage!

From the tornado scene…

To the scene when Dorothy first makes it to the Land of the Munchkins…

Elizabeth Stenholt as Dorothy Gale is unbelievable. Her version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” will keep you at the edge of your seat, not to mention her unbelievable acting talents.

I totally recognized some familiar (and favorite) faces with the Scarecrow (Hunk), Cowardly Lion (Zeke) and Tin Man (Hickory). I immediately remembered Kyle Adams from when he played Buddy in “Elf.” Then I saw Paul-Jordan Jansen from “Sweeny Todd.” Carl Draper was even in “Oklahoma!” and “Mary Poppins.”

Like I said, no matter who you are… you will love this production of Wizard of Oz. Take the whole family before it leaves the Paramount Theatre on January 6. Get your tickets HERE.

You can even participate in a Wizard of Oz Painting Party on December 30 where you’re given supplies to do an Oz-themed painting before going in to enjoy the show… how fun is that?! Click HERE to see details on the Painting Party.
