What Am I Missing Here?
Hi this is Leslie Harris, and I had an odd experience.

A friend of mine asked me to go with her to the mall in Oakbrook. We walked into a department store, and she went straight to one of the designer cosmetic/fragrance counters. She’s obviously been there before as she was on a first name basis with the woman working at the counter. My friend proceeded to try out different cosmetics, lotions and perfumes. Of course the sales woman also tried to get me to buy some products, and sent me home with a little gift bag of samples. My friend spent quite a bit of money, and even told me that her husband loves the men’s cologne. I can not imagine my own husband wearing cologne.

A few days ago, I was with this same friend, who introduced me to another friend of hers. My friend started talking about the expensive perfume that she loved, and her friend started talking about her new favorite designer fragrance.

Now, I have nothing against how people spend their money, but I was really surprised. These are both stay-at-home moms with young children. I thought the only people wearing these designer fragrances were people who were getting dressed up and going into offices, or out for a night on the town.

I understand spending more money on cosmetics, as it can have a tremendous effect on the quality of your skin, but as far as fragrance goes? Give me my essential oils! They’re cheaper, and I think they smell much better.

How about you? Do you wear designer fragrances to go to the grocery store or pick up the kids from school? Am I missing something here? Let me know in the Facebook comments.
