What are some of your favorite songs from the eighties?

Oh my goodness how am I supposed to just choose three songs from this unbelievable decade … Not only was there so much great music that came out of the eighties but this was my coming of age era.  This is when I first started going to concerts and spending all my hard earned babysitting money on albums and a stereo.  This is a tough one for me … I will choose three of my fav’s but do know that I am leaving out so many amazing tunes that I love.

Okay so this will not be the first time I mentioned my undying love of Duran Duran (and it won’t be the last) So they are a good place to start … but what track ??  Hmmm … Well I guess as they say … you always have a special place in your heart for your first … so here we go … (and check out how chronically bad Simon LeBon’s dancing was … he improved over the years!)

So when I wasn’t staring at my Duran Duran posters on my bedroom wall I was obsessing over Michael Hutchence from INXS.  He was like an eighties teen’s Jim Morrison.  The age of the video meant that sometimes you found yourself liking artists purely based on their looks but in all honesty I loved their music too … and I rank an INXS concert I saw at the Aaragon in the nineties up there with my top concerts ever (and that lists includes Bowie … so that is saying something.)

and speaking of Bowie …. who I saw in concert in the eighties (with my parents!)  … This song NEVER gets old for me … when I hear that intro whatever my mood … I will dance and I will be happy … I just love how music can do that.

There are so many other amazing artist from the eighties that I love … The Clash, Elvis Costello, Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Jam (and yes my loyal devotion of George Michael!) but today I am going with the three above.
