As John Laurens says in Hamilton The American Musical …. “Show time! Show time! Yo! …I’m John Laurens and the place to be! Two pints o’ Sam Adams, but I’m working’ on three, uh! Those redcoats don’t want it with me! Cuz I will pop chick-a pop these cops till I’m free!”

So as we raise a glass to the revolution tomorrow … I thought we could look at some of the amazing songs that have been written about revolution and freedom.

Starting with revolution … The Beatles wanted a Revolution … Tracy Chapman Talked about a Revolution … Lenny Kravitz wanted a Love Revolution and Bob Marley wanted a Reggae Revolution … but I have to go with the Children of the Revolution for my favorite track.

Now onto Freedom … Another subject that songwriters love to write about …. This is a Rolling Stones cover and you know I have strong feelings about covers … but I really like this one … it’s by a British band called the Soup Dragons and it is a super fun one to add to your 4th of July playlist.

Happy Independence Day from the Music Challenge!
