There have been a lot of songs written about days of the week but Friday  is definitely the most popular of all the days….because let’s face it nothing goes better with a Friday vibe than a great upbeat tune to get you ready for the weekend.  So there are several reason’s I chose the song I chose … obviously the main one is that I love The Cure but also  I remember it’s release and I remember playing this on the radio most Fridays  and dancing around the studio.  Robert Smith, the song’s primary writer, described it in 1992 as both “a throw your hands in the air, let’s get happy kind of record” and “a very naïve, happy type of pop song.”   I don’t know if I was naive but it certainly made me happy.

The other reason I went with this song is today is the day that The Cure are being inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.   So tonight is a big night for The Cure and I had to give a shout out to a song that almost mentions every day of the week but gives special love to Friday.

I don’t care if Monday’s blue
Tuesday’s gray and Wednesday too
Thursday I don’t care about you
It’s Friday I’m in love

So to answer … what is my favorite Friday Song?   Here is a super fun video from The Cure in honor of their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
