What To Do With All Of That Money?

Hi, it’s Leslie Harris, and Queen Elizabeth’s face has graced the currency of many different countries for many decades, including Canada and New Zealand.

But now that Charles is the new king, all of that currency must be replaced. This includes coins, as well as 4.5 billion Bank notes in circulation! Isn’t that crazy?

And Charles will be facing the opposite direction of his mother when the new coins are minted. This is a tradition that goes back more than 300 years, alternating the direction that each monarch is facing.

I wonder what they’ll do with all of that retired money. For now, it will remain legal tender, but officials are hoping to change most of it for the new coins and notes.
