Leslie Harris here, and yesterday I saw a sight that made me feel very nervous. I know I use the word terrified on the air, – maybe I was being a little dramatic.

The weather was a little bit warmer yesterday, so I decided to take a walk around a pond near my home. I saw this young family walking out on the ice of the pond.

Now like I said, yesterday was warmer, and I was feeling nervous about seeing these small children on the ice. All I said to them with something stupid like, “wow! What an exciting adventure!” while secretly wondering if I should tell them to get their kids off the ice. I walked another 20 feet, and sure enough, the ice was melting near the shore of the pond.

Now I also noticed that the dad was being very careful about testing the ice before he took each step, and that the kids were safely near the shore, and it’s a pretty shallow pond, but would you have said something? I know it’s none of my business, but when I see kids in danger, does that make it my business?

What do you think? Let me know in the comments
