White Sox Radio Announcer, Former Pitcher Ed Farmer Passed Away Yesterday at the Age of 70

Ed Farmer was the voice of the White Sox for a generation. From Buehrle’s no-no to his color commentary of the World Series, his voice is what plays in my head when I think back to those historic moments?

He started out as a color guy, a role that I believe he excelled at, before sliding into the play-by-play chair after the departure of John Rooney aftet the ’05 championship year.

I never had the chance to meet him, but all accounts he was a fantastic human who left too soon.

I haven’t heard any official cause of death, but his struggle with kidney disease hasn’t been a secret. He’s been a proponent of organ donation for as long as I can remember.

Here’s to you, Farmio!
