We have already had one of the best rock biopic’s ever released with last years Bohemian Rhapsody, and the upcoming Rocketman looks to be spectacular too!   We have some fun coming on Netflix this month with the release of Motley Crue’s The Dirt (which has a super fun cast so definitely worth checking out regardless if you are fan of the band or not.)   I guess being a huge fan of a band doesn’t necessarily make for a great biopic.  I mean there has to be a great story too.   Some amazing bands have some pretty ordinary stories (they write songs, go on the occasional tour and then go home to their families).  We were spoiled by Bohemian Rhapsody because it was one of the most legendary bands whose story was anything but ordinary.    Today’s music industry is very sterile and corporate unfortunately but if you go back a few decades, particularly when you go back to the seventies… as Mitch Michaels will tell you … times were different and it was a wild ride (Yeah Baby!)

So what makes a good biopic?  Sex, Drugs and Rock ‘n’ Roll of course.  However more than that you need a character… you need a Freddie, you need an Elton otherwise it’s just stoned boring people playing guitar… yawn.

So being a big supporter of my sisters of rock … you probably aren’t surprised with who I would choose.   She is unique, she is a little weird (but in a good way), she has loved and lost, she has dabbled with the gold dust woman and she is ridiculously talented.    I am of course talking about Stevie Nicks.   I think a biopic of just Stevie would be amazing…. in fact you could probably do each of the members of Fleetwood Mac individually a bit like the X-men back stories!

Now your turn … hop over to Facebook and tell me which artist or band would make the next best biopic?
