The only thing as exciting as finding out who is going to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is finding out who is going to do the inducting.  So for the most part this years inducters (not a word I don’t think) make sense.  Brian May  (Queen) inducting Def Leppard, Simon LeBon and John Taylor (Duran Duran) inducting Roxy Music, David Byrne (Talking Heads) inducting Radiohead, Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails)  inducting The Cure, Janelle Monae inducting Janet Jackson, Susanna Hoffs (The Bangles)  inducting the Zombies and then there is Steve Nicks.   Hmmmm…..

So when I first read that former One Direction’er Harry Styles was going to be the person to induct Stevie Nicks, I was like wait… what?  Then I thought about it and remembered a clip I had seen and remembered they do have some history.   Stevie was very supportive of Harry’s first attempt at a solo record.  She complimented his choice of making more of a rock album and breaking out of his boy band pop shell.   I imagine she could relate to the pressure of leaving a popular band and breaking out on your own.  (Breaking the Chain so to speak.)

Harry Styles solo album was met with the similar critical acclaim as Stevie’s was.  In fact it really has a 70’s rock sound to it which I’m sure Stevie appreciates.

So I guess Harry doing the inducting is not as strange as it seems.  Check out the video below of the two performing together.

And here is Harry doing a pretty fab cover of the Chain which again holds some irony as the Chain of One Direction was broken when Zayn left.
