Riot Fest is This Weekend. Here’s What You Need to Know:

Hi this is Leslie Harris and I am more excited about Riot Fest this year than I have been about any Festival I can remember. Foo Fighters are headlining Friday night, Queens of the Stone age are playing Saturday night and the Cure is headlining Sunday night. If you’ve never been to Riot Fest, here are some important things to know:

Riot Fest has an app with all the information including the schedule and the map with GPS location. Download it.

There are more than 90 performances across five stages. You won’t get to all of them, so figure out who you want to see, and what time they’re playing, and then get there early so you can find your way around, and check out some of the other acts. You might discover a band that you really like.

There’s also a carnival, tons of food and drink options including ones for people with food allergies and sensitivities, a really cool market where you’ll find records, art, jewelry and more. Cash and cards are accepted at most places throughout the Fest, and ATMs will be available.

There’s also a Riot Fest wedding chapel. Yep, at least 32 couples will be getting married at Riot Fest this weekend.

Not gonna lie, parking is a bear. Take public transportation, a cab, a bike, or rideshare if possible. There is a bicycle parking area.

Bring an empty plastic water bottle. No metal or glass. There are water filling stations, and the lines go fast. No outside food or drink is allowed, unless it’s a medical necessity.

Wear comfortable shoes. You’ll be on your feet a lot. Lockers are available, (with chargers!) but they go fast. You can reserve one ahead of time on the Riot Fest website.

Take a picture of the schedule and set it as your home screen. This will do a lot to preserve your battery.

Other items that are allowed include blankets, soft stadium seats (no metal frames) non-professional cameras, standard size backpacks, like a school sized backpack. Also bags and purses, and they don’t need to be clear. You can bring sunscreen and bug spray in non-aerosol containers.

Do not bring chairs with metal frames (unless it’s a medical device) glass of any kind, professional cameras with removable lens, selfie sticks, sharp objects or anything that could be used as a weapon, umbrellas, water guns, water balloons, drones or coolers of any kind. You’re also not allowed to bring CM Punk, Eve 6 or Kid Rock. Yes, really.

I have been to Riot Fest three times now, and I really enjoyed it. I think you will too, and last I checked tickets were still available for all three days. Find out more about Riot Fest HERE
