I’m not sure I’ve ever seen this before, but I love it!

The village of New Lenox started putting up photos of their hometown veterans on street light banners. The story I read in the Herald-News says other locations have done similar tributes, and if I missed those towns I apologize!

New Lenox Village Commons to continue displaying military banners

After a successful first installment of its military banner program, the Village of New Lenox announced that it will be offering it once again for the 2021-2023 display years. The ‘Hometown Hero’ banners hang on the light poles in the New Lenox Village Commons to honor those who have served or are currently serving in any branch of the military.

What a fitting tribute to those who have served!

These particular tributes will encircle New Lenox’s Village Commons from Memorial Day to the end of October for the next two years. They cost $175 to put up which covers the cost and installation of the banners. If any New Lenoxers (is that right?) will like to apply for one of these banners, you can do so starting December 1st. They will even be returned to the applicant at the end of the two year cycle if requested! What a nice tribute to have at home.
