Did You Go?

Hi it’s Leslie Harris, and I just love holiday lights. One homeowner in Batavia has combined his love of lights with a way to make a difference in his community.

Brett Foy, who owns the house known as Lights on Ekman, did not actively promote his fundraiser, yet he raised $4,133 to donate to Batavia mother’s club foundation with his specatacular light display.

He said, “It truly is helping folks that are local and folks that are doing things for other people. Sometimes people think I’m asking for donations for the show. If I couldn’t afford the show I wouldn’t do it. It’s expensive, but the donations are definitely for the Mother’s club and every dollar that I get goes to it.”

Brett plans the show himself every year, and will begin planning this year’s show soon. He said, “People can’t believe it’s just me, it’s literally just me, there’s nobody that helps. It’s just me and my time.”

He also has the lights synchronized to Christmas classics including, ‘You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch’ and ‘Here comes Santa Claus.’

Did you go to see Lights on Ekman this year? I think I’ll have to put it on my list of things to do next holiday season. Brett Foy’s house is at 969 Ekman drive in Batavia.
