A World of Music From Illinois

Hi, it’s Leslie and I got to attend this very cool exhibit called The State of Sound: A World of Music From Illinois. The exhibit was created by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential library in museum in Springfield, however, a version of it has now come to Navy Pier.

The State of Sound exhibit showcases musicians of every genre from Illinois, from pop to rock, from gospel to blues and funk, from folk and country to polka and more.

On display are handwritten lyrics from Willie Dixon and Steve Goodman, a special display dedicated to Chicagofest, and displays about Illinois based record labels and Illinois based companies that produced microphones, amps and talk boxes. It’s a fascinating look at the impact Illinois has had on the music industry.

The State of Sound: A World of Music from Illinois is a free exhibit at Navy Pier that runs now through August 27th. Find out more HERE
