Destination: Chinatown

Hi this is Leslie Harris, and I love having family visit from out of town, because then I have an excuse to do touristy things with them. Yesterday, we took a trip to Chicago’s Chinatown, and it’s even better than you remember.

Since we met at lunch time, we started with one of the great restaurants on Wentworth. I had a nice hot bowl of shrimp noodle soup, and then we were ready to tackle the shops. You can find everything from $2 chachkies , to Fine Art. Being the crazy cat lady that I am, I bought myself one of those lucky kitties with their paws in the air.

We then headed over to Chinatown Square, where they have statues of each Chinese zodiac animal, and a description, so we each took our picture with our Chinese zodiac animal.

There are some newer shops in this area, so we checked out a really interesting little candy shop, that had lots of samples of not only candy, but also dried fruit and even dried fish!

If you haven’t been for a while, I highly recommend checking out Chinatown. There is plenty of parking, and something for everyone. Have you been to Chinatown lately? What do you love about it? Let me know in the comments.
