The closer it gets, the more excited I am! This Saturday, I’m packing up the family into a beautiful Coachmen Freelander from Terry’s RV in Frankfort and hitting the road for a good old fashioned family road trip!

I’ll be sharing photos, videos and stories about the trip so you can follow along and learn more about life on the road…well, at least a week anyway!

Ever since I was a kid, my family has gone camping. And to be fair, by camping I mean more the “air conditioned camper” camping…not so much the “tent in the woods” camping. That’s good too because my wife would have it no other way, as well!

Ever since we had kids (Max, 6; Macy, 4), I’ve wanted to take them my version of camping. This Saturday we’ll load up and ship out for a seven night trip! We’ve never had a vacation this long before, and never in an RV, so it will certainly be an experience! I’m not exactly sure what to expect!

Our first stop will be Indianapolis for two nights. We’ve actually be here before and LOVE IT! We finally get to go back, and I know the kids will go crazy for the children’s museum and zoo. I’m very much looking forward to a side-trip to Knightstown, home of the Hoosier gym!

Then we head south to Louisville, KY. Originally, we planned on going all the way to Pigeon Forge, TN…but that was before Putin did his dirty deeds. Since gas prices have soared, we decided to cut the distance of our trip in half. I’m very much looking forward to Louisville though! Mammoth Cave sounds amazing, and there looks like plenty of things to do as a family. We’ll see what kind of trouble we can get into!

Then it’s back west to St. Louis for a few days. I can’t wait to see our kids faces when they see the arch…and then when they go to the top (…if they can muster up the bravery…we’ll see)! I hear St. Louis has a wonderful zoo as well. Can you tell we’re a zoo family?!

I can’t thank the folks at Terry’s RV enough for hooking us up with that beautiful Coachman Freestyle. It’s the Goldilocks of RVs! Not too big, not too small. Just right, with all the creature comforts we need. It’s the perfect starter RV. Whether you want to start with a pop-up or travel trailer, or go right for the big boys, Terry’s RV has you covered!

Thank you so much to KOA who is also a sponsor of the trip. If you are on the road anywhere in this great country, chances are you will be near a KOA campground. And when you book a KOA, you know exactly what you are going to get…no surprises! Safe properties, fun activities for the family and clean bathrooms! Booking our stays at KOA sites for this trip was a no-brainer.
