Simon Biles. An American Symbol To Be Proud Of!

Now that the Olympics are officially open we can start to pick and choose which events and participants we want to watch. I’m definitely interested in watching a good bit of women’s gymnastics and particularly in seeing Simon Biles perform.This young woman has captured the hearts and attention of the world and for good reason, She has a combined total of 30 Olympic and World Championship medals, Biles is the most decorated American gymnast and is widely considered to be one of the greatest and most dominant female gymnasts of all time. Watching her in the many different events she competes in is simply astonishing. She literally flies through the air defying gravity. I remember back as kid in junior high a buddy of mine and I were doing flips and dives over a high backed chair in my living room. A move we’d learned in gym class (vaulting over a horse). We were pulling it off and getting better when my mom came home and that event came to screeching halt. I mention that simply because I can still remember how tough that set of simple maneuvers was (and also trying to explain to my mom what the hell we were doing). Watching Simon is beyond something of beauty. It’s simply amazing! She came from a very difficult back ground with a tough childhood and maybe that’s part of what propels her, but still I salute her drive and spirit and certainly her work ethic and her talent.
