Another Local, Iconic Institution Makes a Comeback, And It’s Better Than Ever!

Leslie Harris filling in for Mitch Michaels, and I don’t think I’ve ever even been to the Palmer House Hotel, but I’m so happy about the world returning to normal that I was excited to hear the news that the Palmer House is reopening after being closed for 15 months, due to the pandemic and financial problems.

The even better news is that the hotel has gone through a deep cleaning, repairs and renovation. They have had plumbing, roofing and tuck pointing done, and the swimming pool, that dates back to the 1960s has been refurbished. About 200 staff have been brought back out of about 900, but they are hoping to hire even more back when they expect business to pick up this fall.

The Palmer House Hotel is reopening Thursday for diners, who will be choosing from a small plate menu and (hopefully) filling the bar.

If you’re working downtown, be sure to stop by!
