Good Afternoon! This is Laura Vaughn from The Weekend River in for Nick Jakusz.

Imagine what kind of trouble you would be in for driving while playing video games on 8 different phones at once in Illinois. Good thing this happened in Washington State.

A state patrolman saw a car pulled over on the shoulder near the Seattle-Tacoma Airport, so he stopped to see if the driver needed help. The male driver was playing Pokemon Go on 8 phones at once! You’re probably wondering how he was able to hold 8 phones. I’ll tell you. He created some type of foam holder and mounted the phones inside it. Apparently the patrolman thought that was pretty clever, because he let the driver go if he promised to leave the phones on the passenger seat.

In Illinois, as of July 1 of this year it’s against the law to be holding your phone for any reason while driving even if you are at a stop sign or using your navigator. I bought a device that clips onto the air vents, but there are all kinds of devices to help hold your phone. There are suction cup things for your window and cup holder mounts. If you catch yourself holding your phone while navigating, these devices are a good investment. The ticket could cost you $75 for the first offense up to $150 and after the third ticket in one year, your license could get revoked. Serious business.
