Illinois Aviation Museum

In 1967, the US space program entered a new phase of the Apollo Project intending to land on the moon. The first Saturn V launch vehicle was launched from the Kennedy Space Center. The Saturn V was, and is to this day, the most powerful rocket ever successfully launched to complete a manned lunar mission. IAM and EAA Chapter 461 are pleased to host Dean Karafa, a test engineer for the first stage of the Saturn V for NASA at the Kennedy Space Center, on Saturday, March 16 at 10am as he speaks about the Apollo 11 mission. Dean will present a number of artifacts, from the program, including the actual countdown document from the Apollo 11 mission, as well as slides showing various aspects of the Saturn V.
