Four Things to Look Forward to in December

Here are a few things to look forward to in December!

1.  In sports:  College football’s bowl games start December 16th.  Plus lots of NFL, NBA, and NHL action this month.

2.  In movies:  Eddie Murphy’s first holiday flick “Candy Cane Lane” hits Prime Video today . . . “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” is available on-demand starting December 13th . . . and the new Julia Roberts thriller “Leave the World Behind” lands on Netflix next Friday.

In actual theaters:  “Wonka” with Timothée Chalamet opens on the 15th . . . “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” arrives the 22nd along with the new animated film “Migration” . . . and two big ones open Christmas Day:  “Ferrari” starring Adam Driver, and the new musical adaptation of “The Color Purple”.

3.  On TV:  The last six episodes of “The Crown” hit Netflix December 14th, and three new “Doctor Who” specials hit Disney+ this month.  One tomorrow and one next Saturday.  Then there’s a Christmas special on the 25th.

Obviously, there are lots of other holiday specials this month too.  They include “The Great British Baking Show: Holidays” next Friday . . . and the National Christmas Tree Lighting special on CBS December 15th. The actual ceremony happened yesterday, two days after the tree got blown down by high winds!

4.  And finally, the holidays:  The big ones are Christmas . . . Hanukkah from the 7th to the 15th . . . and Kwanzaa starting on December 26th.

There’s also National Cookie Day next Monday . . . National Ice Cream Day on the 13th . . . Ugly Sweater Day on the 15th . . . the first official day of winter is December 21st . . . Festivus is the 23rd . . . and the 31st is New Year’s Eve, when we finally say “so long” to 2023.
