Halloween Happenings in Downers Grove This Weekend
Hi it’s Leslie Harris, and this is such a fun time of year. So many fun Halloween things to do this weekend. Here’s what’s happening in Downers Grove:
Two big events are happening Saturday. The Halloween window painting goes from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Bring a canned good donation for the Downers Grove FISH pantry when you pick up your paint at 933A Curtiss St. It’s a good idea to bring paint brushes, paper towels, a smock, paper plates for mixing colors, a water bottle for cleaning brushes and a plastic bag to bring your brushes home.
Also on Saturday, don’t miss the Living Cemetery. ‘Residents’ of the Main Street cemetery will be conversing with visitors, and sharing a bit about their lives. The Living Cemetery is presented by the Downers Grove Historical Society, and takes place on Saturday from 10:00 to noon.
On Sunday, the Downers Grove Lions Club hosts its annual Halloween costume contest in Fishel Park from noon to 1:00, followed by trick or treating in downtown Downers Grove from 1:00 to 3:00.
There’s a pumpkin hunt continuing through the end of the month. The pumpkins are in the windows of downtown Downers Grove businesses, and kids must make a note of what accessory is on each pumpkin. When kids have found at least 15 pumpkins, they can take their form to the library to claim a prize.
